This is our last trip to Babcock/Webb before hunting season. It is unusual, that given our persistent drought of earlier this summer, we encounter rain showers on our drive. Arriving at Babcock/Webb we immediately notice that almost every tree has at least one occupied spider web. Crooked Lake shows the recent rainfall has pushed the lake beyond its bank and into the off-road trails. There are spiders everywhere...big spiders...fat spiders...beautiful spiders! All morning we continue to hear the threatening thunder rolling in and rain spits at us...and did we mention the spiders.
